I never wanted bliss, as I was not unhappy. But years later I got told that yoga is about bliss, and still later that my life is suffering. I never knew about either one before that.

Yoga tends to get mixed up with religion nowadays. IMO it is sufficient to feel a certain impulse, get some instruction somewhere and practise or live accordingly.

The outer reason why people get into yoga is not the same for all. Many get into it via religion or some personal disaster and gradually grow out of it. Those are often the ones that are interested in suffering/liberation/afterlife issues.
