He is absurdly one sided, cares of the right of the woman to do what she pleases with ther body, but not of how this will affect another.

By similiar logic, I would have the right to use my body to kill someone, if this brings me a gain or helps preserve my well being, just because I own the body that commicts the action.

That would be a selfish way of thinking, and quite insulting if coming from a supposed spiritual guide.
As pretty much every action in this world brings some harm to someone - even breathing is said to kill microorganisms - one should ideally try to act in the way that brings least harm and most benefit, to everyone involved and not only ourselves.

A problem is, is hard to determine the harm caused to a soul by an abortion.
Believing in reincarnation, maybe we can compare a 3 weeks abortion with jailing an innocent man for the same time, while dumbing his consiousness with drugs.
A number of factors may in truth make the situation better or worse.

The legality of abortion adds yet another issue: we don't enforce by law a perfect conduct, only one we find reasonable and in respect of both our freedom and the common well being.
For example, we don't enforce the use of vegetarian food when it is avaliable in alternative to meat, even if - given the option - would be better to preserve a more evolved animal life than a vegetable one.

Personally, I consider my knowledge far too limited to claim knowing what is absolutely best on the issue.

All the discussion over the difference between murder and killing in the article seems overly verbose, inaccurate, and moot.
He goes:

"are we leaving room for the possibility that an obstetrician and a would-be mother can remove the fetal lump without malice? If so, how and when does abortion become murder?"

Even in they don't fully realize the harm possibly done, it doesn't matter for the purpose of determining if abortion is acceptable or not.
IIRC I heard of a kid trying to take apart his sister with a knife, after playing with a toy of an alien with removeable and refittable organs.
He may have not realized the consequences of his actions, but that doesn't make them any more acceptable.
Just reminds us the importance of compassion, as mistakes are often born from ignorance - even by adults.

Am writing in a hurry here, so sorry for being superficial.
