Common Definitions of a DEMONOLOGIST
One who studies and practices the art of Demonology
An Individual who specializes in the removal of Evil or Demonic Forces from a given environment using the art of Demonology
One who brings Demonic Forces out of their slumber to be cast away
Someone who uses the art of Demonology to incantate Demons for ones use in battling them
The Art of Persuading a Demon(s) to leave it's slumber domain and go elsewhere.
One who studies demons
One who Studies and Catalogs Demons

__First, before I go into what a Demonologist is, I would like to quote something that Ed Warren was told by someone who knew the dangers of being a Demonologist. The Following is a Direct Quote from the book "The Demonologist" by Gerald Brittle (ISBN 0-312-92601-4):

__" Ed ,I would never go into homes and confront the entities that you do for any reasons-especially where the demonic are concerned. Once you cross the threshold into the world of darkness, you will forever be in danger, as will all those whom you love. Like it or not ,you will be unique-and alone-among men. Never forget, the diabolical forces you challenge are clever, for unlike any mortal,they possess the wisdom and the knowledge of the ages."

__Simply put, a Demonologist is someone that study's and catalogs Demons. Sounds pretty simple huh? Well actually that is the definition of a Demonologist but there is much much more to it than that.



Studying Demons

A Demonologist studies every kind of recorded demon throughout history. The Demonologist must go threw endless texts and sometimes travel great distances to find literature of human intervention with demons. If that is not enough, then he must start to search threw religious literature/material (usually roman catholic) to piece together all his data. It is very important that a Demonologist uses all his resources as well as his own personal experiences when studying The Demonic. Remember you are studying Demons and not fish or foul. By studying about them ,Leads to them, They know this! Like a movie once said " If you build it, they will come!", the same is about studying demons," If you study them, They will come!". Sounds scary but it is true!

Cataloging Demons

To the Demonologist, Cataloging is everything. When you encounter a Demon you must know as much about it for the next time you either encounter it or come across it in your texts. Cataloging includes but is not limited to Origin,Gender,Ethnic Background, From what Religion it Exists in, What Geographical Area in the World it mostly Exists, Sketches, Etc... Cataloging is the most important because it differentiates all the Demons apart.

Provoking & Conjuring

The Demonologist not only study's Demons but also knows how to bring them out. This method is called provoking or in some instances religious conjuring. If a Demon is let's say in a house and is not really doing much more that going threw with it's demonic infestation(Meaning not to much activity but the client and the Investigator are now aware of a demonic presence), a demonologist can usually bring them out and sometimes anger them.(This is usually when the activity increases 10fold) A Demonologist also knows how to speak to Demons. Since Demons like to remain anonymous, it is very difficult to get one to say it's TRUE name. Demons also lie about everything and many times try and confuse the situation with loud noises ,bells, high pitched sounds and voices of unknown origin. In the case of possession, they can sing,chant,scream,speak blasphemy's, talk in tongues or also talk as many different demons depending on how many demons are there. Remember that once you've crossed the line and either provoked or conjured them, you and the ones you love will always be in danger! It is not a Joke!

Ending Thoughts

Now that you have a good Idea of what a Demonologist is and what he does, let me now explain to you why usually only Priests and APPROVED Holy Individuals are Demonologists. Look at what a Demonologist does and tell me if that is not the quickest way to evil. Knowing this, is why the Churches all agree that to be an Approved Demonologist you must be some sort of Clergy. The Church will Only Approve you to be a Demonologist if you are Clergy because they know that only a True Clergy Man cannot be put under the Devils Spell of thinking that the Devil is more Powerful than God. Believe me, After reading about Demons and Devils some people can go mad and insane (This is also the work of The Demonic). It is also True that if you are a Demonologist under the Church then you cannot go insane or Mad while studying & practicing. There is one man that is Approved by the Catholic Church to be a Demonologist and that is Ed Warren. The only reason he is allowed, is because he is a very Holy Man and has not went a stray for 50+ years of being a Demonologist. He has proved himself over and over again to the church to be a reliable Partner in Faith. As of today,that is reason why there are only 7 Approved Demonologists in the World, 6 are Clergy and Ed Warren is the Layman...

The movie is currently in Scripting Phase and should be ready soon. Once this movie hits you'll get a better understanding of what the real world of being a Demonologist really is...
