Subject: kung fu and it's concepts

I agree with it from a teaching perspective, it's really hard to teach from the bare basic using concept. although it can be done.
however if the formless art is the timeless art of kung fu, then there are many modes in which this art can be expressed. The traditional mantis forms are then a basis for it's teaching was really a transitional component for the schooling of the art, the mantis style, may not actually exist, as with the other kinds of styles of kung fu, it may all be an abstraction. Which is why i feel the traditional teaches may have turned cryptic over time. Kung fu is not that complicated, if the circular physics adds up , then you can see how forces can be manipulated in only so many ways, This is what i mean by the transposition of the forms. When you do transpose the forms in becoming formless it does resemble a mantis from one perspective from another perspective it may resemble something else. I think maybe the animals and the mantis in particular, was symbolic of the art itself or the teaching of the art anyhow.
This means that the training did not mimic animals as such, it derived the names of animals in view of corresponding similarities. You see this development a lot with holistic science, only problem is the circular physics doesn't add up all the time. But what if it's like a kaleidoscope. Then the circles can exist at multiple levels simultaneously. This is why there is a gi gong form, and even that is with a rigid representation.

For example,
You understand that seven stars, is a concept derived from six harmony concept, which relates to the plum blossom concept, which is encompassed in the tai chi concept. The names of the styles are all important concepts pertaining to an art. Seven star, seven weapons, that is the easy part, not so easy is seven gates of the six harmonies, employing a blend of meridian theory to combat. Eight main structured steps, seven main variations of engagement. 56 total combination s, they are not all practiced exclusively in a form. You can even vary it further by blending arm and leg connections. The seven star stance is only symbolic of the phase shift between combat positions on either side, the most important stance is the horse stance, the seven star position is the result of flux. You can't attain it rigidly by theory, in practice it is isolated more than one way, this allows for a better flow between movements.

Most of what i speak of and practice is counter-intuitive that is why it is done longer, at a slower pace and steady rhythm. Using kung fu for actual fighting is a different state of mind altogether, it's a blur, you can only be sensitive to the forces around you and focus on the energy allowing it to run through your body. your goal does not change, defense first, through offensive control. Finally offense through defensive retaliation.
it's kind of ironic because a kung fu fight probably wont go on that long most of the time. Everything that's taken you years to develop on a counter intuitive level, was only meant to improve the odds in battle. that's why you separate your self from the emotions, because emotions fool you, what your doing is calculated, playing odds, emotions have little to do with it, if your dealing with a powerful entity it's that your dealing with a powerful entity.
