ABOUT HIM : Today, he is the darling of tennis and called the future tennis star. Armed with a 140 mph serve, Roddick opened the eyes of the tennis world with a stunning upset against top players who have held the No.1 ranking: Pete Sampras, Marcelo Rios (at the Ericsson Open), Carlos Moya ( in Montreal) and Gustavo Kuerten (in Montreal). Roddick is quickly becoming a marquee draw for star-starved tennis fans. His face adorns the cover of the latest Tennis Week magazine, above the headline "Finally more hope than hype." He's been featured in Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine, the New York Times, USA Today, People, The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn and has been voted the Most Beautiful Man of September 2001. Off the court, Roddick loves pizza and tends to call people “dude.” Players and tennis officials say he is humble, polite and has his ego under control. As a sucessful model and actor, and a champion athlete, Brian still suffered from severe bouts of depression, which drove him to suicide and eventually took his young life. A native of San Francisco, Brian Bianchini was a 1996 graduate of Mills High School and later attended Skyline College. Wrestling had always been his passion since the age of seven, that he won both high school and intercollegiate wrestling competitions. Brian was also an martial arts expert. Brian was discovered by Scott Hoover, a booker with Click Models, while he was having a cup of joe in a San Francisco cafe. It had taken a while before Brian really got comfortable in front of cameras. And instantly, some world's best photographers, including Bruce Webber, Roger Moenks, David Lachapelle, Steven Klein and many others fell in love with his beauty. Brian was remembered as a humble and cordial person, and his photographs reflect his intensity, his strength and gentle nature. The list of campaigns under his belt include Reebok, Versace, Abercrombie & Fitch, Body+Body Wear and print ads for International Male and Undergear. Brian was featured in the pages of Vanity Fair, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Contents, Black & White Magazine and Men's Fitness; and in cover articles for DNR Magazine, TV Guide and Instinct Magazine. He was also featured in several European runway shows and commercials. Atlantic Records agrees, as it just signed Ryan to a multi-record deal. So what does this 20-year-old on the verge of turning 21 have to say about it all? "So when do I tour?" Ryan asked manager Joe Simpson, who also manages Jessica Simpson. For those who don't know, for Ryan it's all about performing live. "I sometimes feel I can move mountains with my music. When people come up to me and say how something I wrote or a performance I gave changed them or moved them in a great way, it truly makes me feel alive. I now know I can put a positive message out there and people feel me." Ryan began playing guitar and writing songs at a young age and gradually matured into an accomplished performer. While still in high school, he began performing at and eventually headlining elite Dallas venues such as Trees, the Gypsy Tea Room, and the Curtain Club. While performing at Dallas venues on a consistent basis, Ryan began to branch out into the Lone Star State and began performing in Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and South Padre. While playing in the Texas area, Ryan was opened for several national touring bands, such as Sister Hazel, Nine Days, Wheatus, Dexter Freebish, the Pat McGee Band, the Old 97's, Monte Montgomery, Sugarbomb, and many more. Ryan has also performed on side stages for Third Eye Blind, Tonic, and Ben Harper. At 19, Ryan continued to boast an impressive touring schedule spanning out to several cities across the U.S. Some of the clubs Ryan has performed at include the Village Underground in New York City; Schubas Tavern in Chicago; Juanitas and Sticky Fingerz in Little Rock, Arkansas; George's Majestic Lounge and JR's Lightbulb Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas; the Still in Towson, Maryland; the Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri; Flannigan's in Shreveport, Louisiana; the Grape St. Pub in Philadelphia; the Point in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; Antone's, La Zona Rosa, Lucy's, Mango's, and Momo's in Austin, Texas; the Laboratory in San Antonio; and Fitzgerald's in Houston. In the summer of 2001, Ryan took a brief break from touring to record his independent debut CD entitled Elm St, which is currently sold-out. Ryan spent several long nights at Deep Ellum Studios recording Elm St in which he produced, arranged, played all guitars, keyboards, and drum beats, and even beatboxed. Saxophonist Raoul Shroff joined Ryan in the studio and performed on several tracks. "I was excited about the opportunity to join Ryan on the CD. He pushed me to try new things and really explore my own creativeness. I think we were able to capture something truly unique and something that stands on its own," says Raoul. Soon after Elm St, manager Joe Simpson caught wind of Ryan and immediately signed him to his management company. A few months and several trips to L.A. and New York, Ryan signed a publishing deal with Evan Lamburg of EMI Publishing and a multi-record deal with Atlantic Records. Once he signed, the writing process began. When the album was written, producers were quick to try and sign on for Ryan's major-label debut. Ryan eventually chose to work with Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls to co-produce the record. Ryan will also share co-producing credits. "I think the chemistry between Johnny and I when we were writing songs together solidified my thoughts of having him produce. He brings such a unique quality to my songs and he's able to capture so much more than I thought was possible, not to mention the fact that I spilled his glass of red wine on his brand-new freakin' billion-dollar white P ersian rug, and I figured I should throw him a bone." I am very much interested in sports, I feel that about a good workout I can feel a certain self-satisfaction. I think it has something to do with a sense of balance between my physical being and my mind. Being in good shape can really make a big difference. I am also a fashion-conscious person. I like to buy clothes, if it's something new and trendy, expect me to be one of the first to wear it. My very first model experience was a test shooting with a photographer near my hometown. I know a rather established hairstylist who has been working for a long time in the fashion business, and is stylists to famous stars. He is very close to the photographer and arranged to have my pictures taken.    The best part of being a model is the chance to travel around the world, meet different people from different places. The worst part must be being alone by yourself and missing your family and really close friends. I don't have any special dreams or even wish because I know that I am on the right way to get some great projects soon. I already got shoots published in magazines, commercials and catalogues. My work on the Milan runways is already a dream come true for me. There is no special person I can point out right now. But there are a lot of people all over the world who started with nothing and went straight to the top. |

Atesh: In my twenties I spent a lot of time just hanging out with friends in different cities around the world - most of it was really superficial, some are still mates today. I used to go to bars, parties and night-clubs as most models do, but it does get boring after awhile. These days the highlight tends to be dinner or a film with my wife or a night-in with a good book or some Tele. Gig:Where did you go to school and what was that experience like? Atesh: I went to school in Essex. Let's put it this way, I'm glad those days are over. Gig: Did you think of yourself as good-looking? (Undoubtedly your look is very unique, I myself can be best described as somewhat of an average-joe, my interest is particularly piqued on this question!) Atesh: Like everyone I have good days and bad days. Gig: Do you listen to music? If so, what genre do you particularly like? What is currently in your player? Atesh: It depends on my mood. Right now it's Arabic, last week it was J.Lo and at the weekend it was my local Greek Radio station. Gig: When and how did you make the transition into modeling? Atesh: It's the old story of mum and my sister pushing me out there. They heard a local radio ad looking for new talent and so sent in my photo and then marched me down there for a photo shoot. Gig: You've just done a movie called "The Winter Sun is a Lie". What was that experience like? And what was your role in it? Also, will it be released to a wider audience, or is it purely an art house film? (On a side note, do you think it would be possible for me to view it?) Atesh: I played the brother to the main character in the film. It's still in post-production and will probably be released at festivals. Gig: In my opinion the pictures taken by Peter Lindbergh for both the Giorgio Armani and A. Testoni campaigns were some of the most beautiful that I've seen. What is the experience of being photographed on an assignment like? Are you very self conscious while being photographed? Atesh: Generally it's fun. You may snigger but there is a little bit of acting involved (not much). You have an idea of the style of the photographer, and what the client's product is like. Then you go to work and try to give them the image they want. It's not brain surgery.
