Subject: Butchers v Magpies

The Butchers minus 8 first grade regulars looked in command early in the second half against the Picton Magpies leading 22-10 only to see the Magpies pile one four tries to take the lead 30-22. A good try in the last five minutes to the Butchers left the final score 30-28.

A few positives for the Butchers was the return of Glen Air, and new signings Paul Crawford and Mark Corrigan had strong games.

The Butchers went into the game without Chris Potter, Chris Timmins, Trent Bryan, Jade Air, Tod Grose, Pat Ginty, Harty & Mark Shepherd.

Fuey was hurt early and didn't complete the game. The forwards were strong early and in the first hit out for the year, it was a positive sign for the Butchers. They did appear to tire a bit in the second half, however at that stage, were playing with many of the reggies who were backing up from the earlier game.

Although the result was disappointing, there was enough to suggest that the Butchers will be more than competitive during 2005.
