Great comment, the stronger the top - the more the weak have to work to stay up to standard. When it comes to a salary cap - the Butchers would be well under. As reported - Smith is playing for zip. So the Butchers are still only paying reasonable match payments.

The big loss of Nigel Daniels, Aaron Beath (used sparingly last year due to Dragon commitments) and loss of stalwart Paul Air is hard to replace.

With gains like Pat Ginty, Mark Corigan, Paul Crawford, Craig Smith, Andrew Hart & with a bit of luck Glen Air, makes the Butchers look competitive against the Dogs provided they can field a full strength line up. With injuries during the season more than likely at different times, and the depth of the Dogs would mean that the Dogs would still have to be favourites.

Mind you, the Butcher spirit which was so evident for the last couple of games last season would suggest that the Mighty Butchers will give this comp a great shake.
