I read the post with interest and like all local league fans, am indebted to Gando for his coverage of the local comp.

I felt that the comments were not really directed badly at Gando, who wrote the article in good faith at a time when Smith was only considering turning out for Thirroul, but were a dig at Smith himself for taking up the Newcastle offer (which anyone would do in his position).
