Well Well Well Mole.....your news was second hand when it was posted. Your post advising of the new NO. 7 for the Butchers was posted on the 15.2.05. Lets have a quick recap of what Mark (The Bookie) Read wrote, one day earlier:

Odds on comp -- Mark Reid, 12:25:16 02/14/05 Mon [14]

After considerable considertion : and still not knowing completely what is going on we have decided to frame a market. It is all in, so if some players pull out the bets still stand. Like pre-poll before the Melbourne Cup.

Collies won last year, lost Ferris but have been busy in the market place. It would appear that with the signing of Holbrook Dapto also will be strong. They will not let what happened last year happen again. The word from the north part of town is also encouraging with Smith Hart & McKay and possibly a new no. 7.

So I think it is clear that they will qualify for the semis. Under those circumstances they must all be tighter than 4/1. Port on the other hand may have some difficulties but are always there or thereabouts with the problem being the run to the finish. Each-way odds at 6/1 and Wests at 8/1. You can write your own tickets for each of the others with probably the Burgh and Cougars at 20/1 Bulls at 25/1 & Uni at 66/1.

So lets look at it

Collies 11/4
Dapto 13/4
Thirroul 7/2
Port 6/1
Wests 8/1
Burgh Cougars 20/1
Bulls 25/1
Uni 66/1

Smith, Hart & McKay and possibly a new no. 7.

Mate, if you are going to brag about being first, well, at least make sure that you are first.

Remember, the bookies have all the inside information.
