In a 10 team comp, a top 5 would have plenty of benefits, the main one being that most clubs will be fighting for a spot well into the season.

Berry came from a fifth place playoff to storm into the grand final before a record crowd. (Unfortunately they got smashed by 50 in the decider, but the run over that month got the whole town abuzz).

Obviously the downside would be that coming halfway down the table would still qualify a team for the semis.

Although 50% of sides would qualify, this is nothing compared to the 66% of the 3 teams who play endless one dayers each year and cricket seems to survive and flourish, even when they field someone like Zimbabwe which guarantees Australia a spot in the finals.

If Berkeley do come up to firsts, then maybe a look at a 5 team finals may be worthwhile, either way, the comp should continue to improve as it has in recent seasons.
