Violet eyes snapped open, heart pounding a tattoo of primal fear in her chest. Reaching up, she touches her neck, and finds the twiggy end of a branch poking there. She had been dreaming, there was no blood on either her neck or body. Breathing deeply, one hand resting on the comforting roughness of the tree limb beneath her, the other still touching her throat, the dream still replaying itself in her mind.

She had been back in the dell where she had been confronted with Trell'Dem, only this time there was no Wyrd to protect her. She had fought, Trell'Dem moving far faster than any creature living, dead or undead should be able to, the staff a blinding blur of silver as she blocked his attacks and issued her own. He had struck several times, drawing blood in various, though nonlethal locations, while her own strikes only seemed to annoy him. She had grown increasingly slower as the battle went on, her energy level dropping while his didn't seem diminished in the least. Between one heartbeat and the next, he had gotten under the spinning weapon and slammed a hand against the ones gripping the silver staff, the resultant numbness in her fingers allowing the staff to drop. She had swept her wings forward to shield the front, and in so doing had left her back exposed. He still moved faster than lightning and had circled her, pinning her arms to her sides.....and then bitten her. It was the pain of that bite, not really a bite at all, but the branch digging into her throat that had awakened her. Looking down, Wyrd who had curled up at the base of the tree in which she had fallen asleep, looked up at her curiously. Rotating her neck to ease the sudden muscle cramp, she wonders what Wyrd is thinking. She didn't often have nightmares, but then, she didn't normally have a vampire after her hide either. Forcing her muscles to relax, her breathing a deep even rhythem, her heartbeat slowing down to it's normal range, she wonders what the dream might mean, or if it was just a nightmare brought to her sleeping mind by her own fear. She hoped it was just a normal nightmare, she didn't want to even think about that possibly happening, not at all.
