She beat her wings to push her forward, then locked into a glide after the boy, which she easily caught up. If she didn't stop him, he was more than likely going to kill himself with the impact against the ground, going at such a high speed. Or if nothing else, he's get really fucked up.

But those were ifs. She wasn't about to let that happen. dove down behind him, and grasped him right below his limp arms. Without the full throttle of wind, his wings fell down to his sides, clanging harshly against hers. Lucky she knew what she was doing and didn't have to have to use her wings completely for flight. She moved her wings back so his would fall straight, then spread them out again, parashuting down to the ground. Once landed, she laid him down and patted his cheek.

"Ok pongo, wake up. Sleeping and flying aren't something you want to mix."
