It was heaven.

It was hell.

The rain had come suddenly, the storm clouds rushing in with an almost wild abandon, darkness consuming the faint night light, like some antediluvian beast swallowing its prey. There was a fork of lightning, lashing out at the ground with a speed and rage that was clearly bellied by the storm’s suddenness. There was a faint crackle as the lightning bolt struck out, ionizing the air, static charges suddenly claiming the previously uncharged atmosphere. The pellets came now in torrents, manifesting a raging power that was inherent in all storms. The sheer rage of the storm bellied its beauty, amethyst bolts of light dancing amidst the sky, crashing towards the earth with a sudden and fierce beauty. This was life, this chaotic hanging on, hanging on to survival. In that sense, the storm was perfect, and with its perfection brought a sense of heavens grace.
The suddenly thundering rain did little to squelch the pit of hell below. Where there once was a large village stood a burning waste. The flames raged higher, seemingly uncaring of the pelting from heavens gates. Defiant as all fires were, it raged on, licking up the fuel around it, scorching the air with a heat that was completely undeniable. It continued its grotesque, and yet hypnotizing dance of destruction, turning to unrecognizable ash what was once a sprawling port along the sea.
Amidst the seeming chaos of destruction, there was no beacon of hope. Nothing. No screams permeated the air, no wailing of children, and no sobs of distraught people. It was silence; a silence so profound and devastating that it would send chills down the spines of even the most hardened warriors. It was a silence that added to the destruction, lent a chilling hand to its power.
The flames danced continuously, and they would continue to do so until long after this night. The slaughter was complete, and there was only one witness. There were only one set of eyes, looking down upon the ravaged town…Even then the moonlight glinted dangerously from a weapon that stood a foot taller than the being. Slowly the eyes turned away, steps taking the being away, simple sorrow evident in the beings passage.
Mere hours had passed, and already this world had lost much in the way of cool points in his honest opinion. It was cold…there was nobody around…a look of sheer puzzled curiosity slipped onto his face.
how could they have risked their lives, numerous times to save this?
Shrugging it off, the figure reaches into his pocket, pulling out a set of earphones. Slipping them onto his ears he smirks softly and takes the weapon, leaning it on his shoulder and starts walking. Confident steps take him across, icy and burned landscape, simply walking, an easy gait as the earphones blare music into his ears.
now where…ah…there it is…
The being disappeared into the frozen albeit quickly melting forest...completely dry
