He sat in a grassy area, just to the north of Sun-Decending. Ariel was still unconscious, though he had her head resting on his shirt, rolled up under her head. He had taken the half completed flute from her bag and was carving on it, singing softly to himself an old bard's song.

Sleeping goddess, slumbers soundless
Lying on clouds, and lives with clues
of the unfaithless praying, unceasing, unwavering
praying for their lives. Priests speak low of
She, the life-giver, the shining light,
She fears for them, fettering their hopes
in her tears perhaps, a tettering peoples.
Praise the goddess, pray to her goodness.
Love to live in the light of her grace.
