Here eyes widened, catching light for the first moment since massive upheavels of earth had sent Mateo and herself running for cover. Their home was gone; trees uprooted and cast in all directions, the lives in them broken. Mateo was breaking as well. Selfsame eyes turned back towards this spikey-haired woman, fierce blue with a starburst of brilliant green surrounding the pupil.

She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.
