The Avatar smiled, and she stepped forward, and placed her hand on the boy's head. Her eyes were warm.

"Even a weak runt can be the one to decide worlds. If it's what you believe, it's all you'll ever be. But...you're still young, and you have much to learn."

The smoke made the sky dark, and it was hard to tell what time of day it was. Then the sky lit up as a streak of lightning jolted across the sky, and a rolling thunder carried gently over the clouds. A soft rain began to patter down.

The Avatar looked up into the rain as another streak of lightning passed overhead. The light, for a brief moment, lit up her features, and her bangs drew black streaks on her face under her eyes. Then she looked back to the boy after the lightning faded.

"Come, I know a small place we can get out of the rain."
