"Drop the shadow child, dark one."
A voice echoed along the trees, coming from the shadows themselves. Nystka stopped and tilted her head, narrowing her bright yellow eyes at the sound.
"Who's going to make me?"
Wyrd stepped out from the shadows in front of Nystka, melting out of the darkness before the forgotten, oddly he's alone, Valenthe no where in sight. Just as he would like it, not wanting her harmed.
"I will. My mistress charges me with aquiring that shadow child." He crouched. "But I am also charged with not harming you, lest I involk the wrath of Kyuu..."
Nystka smiled wryly, slinging Miyu over her should by his tail. His mind screamed with pain, but he showed no outward signs on his completely limp form.
"Sorry, this one is mine. If you want him, you're going to have to take him from me."
Wryd smiled almost evilly. It oodly sent a chill down Nystka's spine.
"That....will not be a problem."
"Bah." Nystka raised her hand and immediately the area darkened and white balls appeared in the air. "It will be if I destroy you first. Shadow Flare." Then the balls sped for Wyrd for a full force attack. He didn't move.
Each ball struck and exploded, not the kind that would rock the ground, but small explosions, enough to cause dust and leaves to fly in every direction from the wind by each. She smiled more as she lowered her hand and dusted it off on her clothes. What she heard next made her blood run cold.
It started softly, then grew louder, some kind of sound. What was that...laughing?
The dust cleared and Wyrd was still standing, looking as though nothing had even struck him. Not a feather nor hair was out of place.
"What are you?"
"I am Wyrd. I am Chaos given Purpose, Order. Now I say again, give me the shadow child before you force me to act. And it will not be pretty."
Nystka hesitated and growled. She'd heard of this thing before. Indestructable execpt to a few people. Not wanting to loose her freshly acquired body, she instead unslung Miyu from her shoulder and tossed him to the ground in front of Wyrd, scowling.
"Wise."
Wyrd bared his teeth in a malicious smile, then grabbed Miyu around the scruff of his neck in jaws that could otherwise crush the poor creature, but were more gentle since he was ordered to retrieve and not destroy. Then he melted back into the shadows, leaving for his mistress.
Nystka smiled after he left. So, the rumors were true then, Chaos was around. She didn't worry about her lost prise, but instead placed a hand to her mouth and whistled shrilly.
The trees over her head bent and wailed as something huge passed over their tops, almost hurrican force wind. Something then roared and crashed through the branches. A huge winged serpent with wings full spread as well as the scale feather plume slithered forward and towered over the forgotten.
Zigorot leered down at Nystka, darting his tongue out as they stared at each other in a stand off kind of way. Then he lowered his head down to her.
"My lady."
Nystka smiled and put a hand on the nose of the huge creature, stroking the scales on his nose. It must have looked odd to any other creature. A small, near tiny woman, petting a huge winged snake that could most likely swallow her whole, being stroked like some kind of pet.
"You did good, my pet. I'm free of that digusting, moral-ridden woman."
"It pleases me to see you again, my lady. Your words are too kind."
"Enough grovelling. Let us go meet with your..."friend". I'm sure she's wondering why you left her."
"Yes."
Zigorot lowered his body to the ground and Nystka climbed onto his back, right above his wings. Then he roared and launched straight up into the sky, knocking over trees.
Instantly after they left, a rabbit skid to a stop to look up through the newly ripped hole in the tops of the trees. His amber eyes wide against red fur and his mouth gaped open. Then Naes ran back off through the forest.
"This is bad. I've got to warn them."
