A little girl watches from the shadows. Her clothes are dusty and worn, as though she has been on the road for some time and her strange, beautiful gold eyes draw many stares. They hold wisdom and pain beyond her years, and though she tries hard to keep her expression closed and unreadable her eyes betray her. Her stance is wary and, strangely, that of a trained fighter. "My name is Vixen, Vixen Kerri." she says, then falls silent, wondering if anyone cares.

Vixen was abandoned when she was two. Her parents thought she was a changeling or a monster because she could talk to animals and had gold eyes. She lived on the streets and was taken into a gang of thieves but was caught at the age of 5 and put in the care of a weaponsmaster. He forced her to learn sword and fighting skills even though she was so young and punished her when she made mistakes. Since she was a fast learner, by the time she was 10 the master was hiring her out as an assassin and thief. By his way of thinking, no one could suspect a child of murder. Vixen only ever made one friend, the daughter of the mayor of her village. One day she was ordered to assassinate her friend but wouldn't do it and ran away. Finally she came here to Balinor.
