A blond, middle-aged woman sits by the hearth, busy with her embroidery. As she overhears the question, she smiles friendly and beckons him to come closer.

"Not in many, many years... But I heard there is a fair lady from another kingdom who is held as captive near the north-east border of Balinor. Light knows why, but you know...." She lowered her voice. "They say she refused to marry a prince - perhaps she's a traitor, or just disobeyed the king."

The lady-in-waiting smiled again and shrugged. "One should never trust rumours, and besides, they say she's guarded by the king's counsellor - and his terrible monsters."
