I agree with half of what you say, but these events are not run by rich promotion corporations, they are run by parents, coaches, ex-gymnasts, friends, volunteers (thank you to all of them). If people don't like something, volunteer and help spread the workload to make it easier for the organizers.
I agree that the sound system could have been better; if someone out there has a good PA system, volunteer it! (Although I would have thought that a National Sports Centre should be able to provide an effective PA)

While I agree that the older and more experienced gymnasts can handle, and may appreciate, audience participation, a lot of novices certainly can't; it only takes a small distraction to break their concentration and make them forget their routine, as many tears will evidence. This was primarily an exam, not a competition, so you should compare it with an exam, not a football match. And it was not an olympic stadium where the audience is more remote; the nearest spectators were only feet away. The continuous wandering round during routines (by parents and gymnasts) and use of flash, both of which are explicitly forbidden, are very poor manners and should rightly be chastised.
