I think realistically they aren't aiming to beat Russia at the moment, they are aiming to get going with a group and then work their way up. The level of group in the world is high but not as high as it is in the individuals. We do have a chance on doing well as there are 3 girls in the group who are in national squad, 1 girl who has been British champion many times and the other 2 didn’t seem to be out of place at all. I think more credit should go to the gymnasts and the coaches as they are having to put this together in their own time and with no help from BG. BG aren't even helping them towards getting to Portimao as they have to pay it all themselves.

As for getting other people in the team, where would they train? Who would coach them? For example if there were girls from West Lothian, Canterbury, Stockport and Bath in the team, where would they train? All that travelling to be shot down by BG, I think the way it was set up is the right way as the girls aren’t very far away from each other so they can train together often.

The routine is messy at the moment but just look at all of your girls back at the gym, I bet most of them have drops and mistakes in them as they are either new, had changes or haven’t been worked on for a while. The girls have done very well to get to the stage they are at and im sure by doing the group and hopefully competing in many more internationals and improving, it will improve their individual routines as well. Look at Hannah Walker – perfect example. She got all of her experience from group and then became one of Britain’s top individualists competing at Worlds etc.

Anyway, best of luck to all of the girls
