Never said it was a novice competition; it was a grading, with ALL grades from 1 to 10, so there were a lot of young, inexperienced gymnasts in the lower grades, maybe at their first major event, very nervous and easily put off.

Nobody was complaining about the audience cheering the gymnasts on; people were complaining about spectators and gymnasts continually running around just outside the carpet during the routines.
