Pete Gillen is a great coach and a great Stag basketball/baseball alumnus. He would be great for Fairfield and the MAAC but don't think it will happen.

Think of the message it would send to the school, community, the conference and alumni if such a commitment were to be made.
Let's face it and be intellectually honest with ourselves. Winning is the bottom line. Right now, $2.00 tickets with free admission to those under 15 would not get 4000 at the Arena. If we only had 1 or 2 losses, people would be paying the freight, with crowds around 4000-5000, depending on the opponent.
Time to step up and put our money where our mouth is!

I don't think it's impossible that Gillen would come, but it's a real longshot. Would take a major financial commitment - figure double the 200K a year or so that TOT is making. Would Fairfield be willing to step up to the plate with 5 years and $2 million guaranteed for Gillen? Doubt it.

I am sure that Pete does not need the money and with his basketball resume, I would bet the ranch that he would not consider such a move.

We should do everything in our power to snatch up Pete

gillen and put a face on the program and bring in some good recruits. An area where TOT has not been producing. All the good recruits are a product of Hobbie.
