GAME NOTES: In a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown, the Saint Peter's Peacocks play host to the Fairfield Stags this afternoon at the Yanitelli Center. After winning seven of their eight previous games, the Peacocks have dropped two consecutive matchups to Manhattan (95-82) and Iona (83-75). Saint Peter's, which is an even 7-7 on the year, has posted a solid 3-1 mark on its home court. As for the Stags, they have lost two of their last three games, including a tough 78-73 setback to Niagara on Thursday. Over the past three and a half seasons, the Stags have held their own in foreign territory, posting a solid 26-22 mark away from home. With regard to the all- time series between these two schools, the Peacocks hold a solid 48-35 lead. Last season, Saint Peter's won both matchups, including an impressive 84-78 victory in Fairfield.

Fairfield is averaging a mediocre 70.5 ppg this season, however, the team has struggled defensively, surrendering 77.9 ppg while allowing the opposition to shoot a solid 50.5 percent from the floor. In their last contest, a five-point setback to Niagara, the Stags allowed the Purple Eagles to post a 51.0 percent shooting effort from the field, which included a 12-of-24 effort from long range. Offensively, the Stags shot 48.3 percent from the floor, but connected on just 5-of-14 shots from behind the arc. Terrence Todd pace the team with 18 points and he also pulled down eight rebounds, while Michael Van Schaick and Dewitt Maxwell both contributed 16 points in the loss. On the season, Todd has been the best option offensively for the Stags, as he is averaging 16.0 ppg. Maxwell chips in with 11.4 ppg to go with a team-best 6.6 rpg, while Van Schaick is contributing 10.9 ppg.

The Peacocks have also struggled defensively this season, permitting an average of 75.6 ppg. Offensively, the team is netting 72.2 ppg and most of the damage has been done by standout guard Keydren Clark. Once again, Clark is the heart and soul of the Peacock offense and he is currently averaging an eye- popping 25.6 ppg. Todd Sowell is the only other player for Saint Peter's averaging double figures, turning in 12.3 ppg to go with his team-best 10.4 rpg. The Peacocks allowed Iona to shoot 55.8 percent from the field in their most recent clash, which included a 7-of-15 showing from three-point range. Offensively, there was Clark and basically nothing else for Saint Peter's, as he poured in 28 points while handing out five assists. Sowell added 11 points and nine boards, and Kevin Spann came off the bench to contribute 11 points.

Neither team has played all that well at the defensive end this season, however, it is hard to see the Stags being able to shut down Clark on his home floor. Look for Clark to have yet another big game as he leads the Peacocks to victory.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Saint Peter's 77, Fairfield 66

01/15 10:23:45 ET

Also, Las Vegas showing an outcome that favors St. Peter's by 6.
