It's not easy for a transfer to join a team in the middle of a season and immediately make an impact. But Mamadou Diakhate doesn't have much of a choice...

...Diakhate knew assistant coach Jerry Hobbie while in high school, though he said Fairfield wasn't one of the schools he seriously considered coming out of St. Mary's. He said he transferred to Fairfield because of its academics as well as the basketball program and proximity to New York.

Coach Hobbie is the man when it comes to recruiting! I believe he was responsible for bringing Ajou and Deng to Fairfield. Plus Greg Nero and his father specifically praised Coach Hobbie after committing to Fairfield.

I'd like to see Hobbie get a shot at the Head coaching job at Fairfield when TOT moves on.....

My hunch is TOT will "move on" after this season and coach Hobbie will "move on" with him.

Where is he going to go? Though the team is playing better, they are unlikely to be .500 this year. He's not going to land a big-time job based on that.
