Broadcasting games is much more than just an alumni relations tool at Quinnipiac. It is part of their strategic marketing plan. AD McDonald's reference to the "NESN effect" reflects their view that broadcasting games on NESN is buying eyes and marketing exposure throughout New England where 99% of their student body is from. Plus their School of Communications benefits where students are gaining valuable broadcasting experience enhancing their chances to land a job at NESN or ESPN after graduating. Broadcasting games is part of a much larger strategy implemented by President Lahey to increase Quinnipiac's name recognition and to enhance their academic offering. Brillant!!!

Another notable quote...

McDonald said that Quinnipiac's arrangement with NESN, which guaranteed that several ECACHL games would air on the network each year, helped the school gain league entrance.

If Fairfield is looking to position ourselves for the new Catholic League to be formed after the Big East and A10 implode, our lack of a TV broadcasting arrangement will not help!!!
