Subject: The MAAC Standings

The MAAC standings have a lot of fluidity, and now it looks as though Manhattan and Iona have separated themselves from the pack. Their only loss was when they played each other. Even if they falter a bit, they are still a lock for the top 4. Whoever beats them will show that they will be contender come March, and will also be a big boost to any tiebreaker for MAAC tourney seeding purposes....... almost like a double win if you can beat them. It makes the Stags game vs Iona on Tuesday a good test to see if we can be a serious contender.

Rider at 0-6 has also separated themselves from the pack. They have some real good talent in forwardsThomson in Muniz, but their guards are young and have not shown to be that good...... not a good combo to win in the MAAC. But at 0-6 they got a lot of teams to pass to get into the Top 4.

That leaves the middle 7 teams, that have shown that anybody can beat anybody on a given night. Loyola seems to be the strongest, and their 4-2 record supports that.... but they beat us in an OT game where we did not have Max/Mamadou and they did not Fofana. Switch that around and suddenly we are the 3rd place team. I am not sold on Loyola yet, as I do think Canisius is the team that will most likely rise. Marist should also be much better than they are, but I thought that last year, and they have lost 14 out of their last 17 games againtst MAAC opponents.

We could have easily been 0-6 or 6-0 at this point with only the Canisius loss and St Peters win not coming down to a last minute shot. But we got Iona, Marist and Loyola on the road over the next 8 days. We ain't going to be .500 with 3 games, so either we will be contenders, or talking about how we need a home winning streak with 6 of our last 9 games at home.

Manhattan 6-0
Iona 5-1
Loyola 4-2
Fairfield 3-3
St Peters 3-3
Canisius 3-3
Marist 2-4
Siena 2-4
Niagara 2-4
Rider 0-6
