Tony, great report! You have really peaked my interest, as well I'm sure of other Stag fans. One thing you didn't mention however is defense. Did he play the 6'6" center straight up in man to man (did the other guy score much, were there any blocks or intimadations, etc.). Did they play some zone, or was there any pressing, and how active was he?

I was also at the Red Hook game last night. Surprised I didn't see you Tony. I agree with most of your analysis of Nero. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the opposition. St.Mary's was a quality team. They had size and speed. Nero was the best player on the floor by far. He was doubled and triple teamed all night. Despite this, he was still able to score inside. He also hit turn around jumpers and a couple of half hooks. The thing that impressed me the most was his first step on offense. He is extremely quick. He blocks shots and is very athletic. He also can dribble very well for someone 6'7". I can see him being a very capable small forward with the stags. However, he has the size and athletic ability to play power forward if need be. I must also comment on the team he is playing on. With the exception of one other player besides Nero, this Red Hook team, to put it politely, is not very good. If Nero were playing in the city, while his stats. would obviously not be as gaudy, we would be very hard pressed to recruit this kid.

Oh by the way, Red Hook played mostly zone, wouldn't you against St Mary's, so it was difficult to see his foot speed on defense. His foot speed on offense and jumping is quite impressive, as I previously stated.
