Subject: I hate to agree with Frank F but....

Wow. we got KILLED. 45 free throws? Was that the number? A 21-0 run? AGAIN?! Blame it on size, blame it on exams, blame it on the empty arena. Whatever. This might be one of the worst teams we've fielded since the Mitch era. Not to say the players aren't talented - they are. But we are completely undersized and, as we overcompensate for that, we leave people WIDE open for either jumpers or layups.

This is going to be a very long season. I foresee 20 losses and, even more unfortunately, a change at the top. I hope we can turn it around but this is tough to swallow.

Many disagreed with me prior to the season, but I still say that the loss of Deng Gai was huge.

His ability to block shots allowed our guards to pressure outside and take some risks. Now if we sag to guard the post, we get killed outside. If we try to defend the 3 point line, we get killed inside. Deng was able to erase defensive mistakes made by others.

The Eraser is gone and it shows.

Stags score 80 points, but only 8 points scored by frontcourt players (Middleton 4, Reedal 4, Carter 0).

Where are the adjustments by the coach? Many teams don't have a Deng Gai and look a lot better than we do. If our current players had the open looks that we are giving up, we would score 100 points. Our defensive approach and schemes suck. Let's all hustle and play like TOT played and everything will be allright. Same old shit for 8 years. I don't expect us, especially with our missing 3 key players, to win all of these games, but we look horrible. Who should we blame? The players? I think not.

20 losses seem possible. I mean, who is this team going to beat? As for the above prediction that the coach will be replaced, if that happens the athletic director probably has to be replaced also.

20 losses does seem possible but let's not forget we are without our two most talented big men. I think that once MAX comes back and if the transfer can provide a few quality minutes we will do fine in the MAAC. With 19 or so games left before the MAAC, TOT will have to do some job to get any where 500 this year. With some luck and inspired play from MAX there's no reason we can't finish strong.

DeWitt Maxwell is a good role player but he is not the answer as he doens't provide a Defensive presense like Deng, Phillip, Thompson would have. That is why I hope Diahkate and MOS return (Hawkins?) to provide some muscle.
