I found this quite humerous...

Pre-Season Pope's Poll

Forty-one Catholic colleges and universities compete in NCAA Division I basketball -- here’s a divinely inspired poll predicting how they will stack up on the hardwood for the 2005-06 season. Weed ending November 21st.

Headed for Hoops Heaven: the "Saintly Sixteen"

1. Villanova
2. Gonzaga
3. Boston College
4. Georgetown
5. Creighton
6. Xavier
7. Notre Dame
8. Marquette
9. St. Josephs
10. Dayton
11. Holy Cross
12. Iona
13. Manhattan
14. Providence
15. DePaul
16. Portland

In Purgatory, at least for now: Canisus, Detroit, Fairfield, Fordham, Loyola (IL), Loyola-Marymount, Niagara, San Francisco, Santa Clara, St. Francis (NY), St. Mary's (CA), St. John's, San Diego, and Seton Hall.

Hangin' in Hoops Hell: Duquesne, LaSalle, Loyola (MD), Marist, Sacred Heart, St. Francis (PA), St. Bonaventure, St. Louis, St. Peter's, and Siena.

"Benedict's Bum"(worst Catholic team in America): Mount St. Mary's.

humerous = humorous

In hindsight,

- Holy Cross and Manhattan belongs in Purgatory.
- Canisius and Fordham belong in Hangin' in Hoops Hell
- Loyola MD and Siena belong in Purgatory

It would be fun if this guy organized a committee of fan representatives from each school and came out with a weekly poll...maybe I'll suggest it!

They are controlled by a secular Board of Directors. Thats not just semantics.

Marist is a school based in the traditions of the marist brothers -- while not affiliated directly with the archdiocesce of NY - they are still a catholic college -- it is simply semantics...
