Subject: We had our Opportunities
Should have had this one in regulation. The MVS charge could have been a clincher, and we let them score to easy in final seconds.... should have fouled.

Re: We had our Opportunities -- GO STAGS, 11:10:30pm 12/09/05 Fri, [1]
the MVS call was awful....from my angle I didn't think it was even close to a charge. I wouldn't have fouled with 3 seconds to go but I would have liked to see some better D on the shot that tied it. These are tough, I said to my friend when we were up 1 with the ball about to inbound...that we somehow find a way to lose these games over the years...I didn't think it would happen again. Jeez that MVS call was awful....

Re: We had our Opportunities -- Red Rugger, 11:19:15pm 12/09/05 Fri, [1]
TOT let this one get away. With 3.0 seconds left in regulation FFLD had no one pressuring the inbounds pass. FFLD's tallest player, either Middleton or Carter, should have been all over the inbounds passer. Instead all 5 players dropped back to half court, let Loyola inbounds the pass with no pressure and Collins hits the 3 to tie. If the strategy was to lay off the inbounds passer Ffld should have fouled immediately twice. This surely would have used up the 3.0 seconds. Poor crunch time coaching. MVS's charge was a pretty cheap call. It sure looked like the Loyola defender took a dive. It should have been a "no call". Exciting well played basketball game. I don't know what the shooting % were but they had to be good by both teams (especially the 3's). Andre Collins is the real deal. He is one cool customer. I thought Middleton played his best game ever as a Stag. He looked very comfortable on the court. He rebounded, played good D and got involved in the offense. The playing time he's getting now bodes well for the future.

great point Red Rugger and Menzies - I'll admit I didn't realize they had TWO to give in that spot either....holy oversight batman!!!! agree that Middleton showed signs of being a presence on the court. students I thought did a good job of keeping up the excitement and noise throughout the game.....the rest of the crowd was unfortunately very dull

Andre Collins went 8-25 and 5-15 from 3. Sullivan killed FF in the first half with his 3's, but IMO, Alujevic was the DIFFERENCE. 21 pts. on 7 for 7 including 3 for 3 from 3.

The Van Schaick foul looked like a glancing blow on a bigger guy who flopped. It was almost under the basket as well.
Regardless of that call, they should have fouled after that. They had TWO to give. Poor coaching. Hobbie knew it. He was motioning for it. This one is TOT's. He needs to 'fess up on that to his team and take it off of them.

wash hands before going back to work
do not stand under a tree during thunderstorm
do not spit on the floor
guard the in bound pass when up 3 with 3 ticks left

Didn't see the game...heard mainly, from knowledgeable individiual at the game...that the foul call was out of line. However...this is simply the best post I have seen in a long time! Thanks for the sunrise humor, as dark as it may be.

Re: We had our Opportunities -- Nashville Stag Fan, 10:46:37am 12/10/05 Sat, [1]
Middleton's play was very good(for the second game in a row). He made a difference when he was in there(both defensively and rebounding). Five rebounds in only 11 minutes. He kept the ball high in the air when he came down with the ball, so the small guys couldn,t take it away, plus he made the proper outlet passes. In my opinion he should be playing a lot more, considering our defensive deficiencies. (this is not a knock on Carter who he would replace, but the fact remains we need more defensive presense under the basket). Jeff also handled the ball well on offense, and the flow was not disrupted.

I was watching Channel 8 sports, and Noah Finz sounded shocked we blew this game. I wish they would send a camera crew down to Harbor Yards for some video shots, there was nothing else going on in town now that HS football is over.

Re: We had our Opportunities -- Running Man, 01:15:56pm 12/10/05 Sat, [1]
How many times in the past have we been beaten on a buzzer shot or had the game sent into OT because of it. This is starting to get old. Our interior defense was good but as usual our opponent had a field day from the arc. It is astounding to me that in the seven or so years under the current regime that we have never implemented a system to address this weakness. Don't these coaches know that this is a serious deficiency? Don't they go to coaching clinics or seminars to learn how to solve this problem? Apparently not!

Re: We had our Opportunities -- Champ, 01:25:30pm 12/10/05 Sat, [1]
Just a thought..maybe the charge call was the ref's payback to TOT after his early years of abuse.
Did we pass up a couple of open three's late in the game? I couldn't tell from the radio broadcast, but Huessler implied Bell and maybe Todd "thought about it" and hesitated on two possisions at the very end. Maybe we played not to lose in the last couple of minutes?

TOT could be the worst coach ever, not just from last night but over these past years.
