Subject: Need to win One in Iowa

Need to win 1 game in Iowa for a lot of reasons, but the most important thing is that we need to get a win under our belt before we play the MAAC opener vs Loyola next Friday. So both games in Iowa will be meaningfull. If we lose to Iowa, we should be the hungry team in the consolation.

I saw Iowa beat NC State on ESPN last night and here is a scouting report.

They are a highly skilled team even though they had a ton of tunovers last night. They remind me a lot of St Joes as they work hard for a shot and play very good team defense. I don't think they are a great 3-point shooting team, as they focus more on gettting a good shots off picks. It looks like they are good at the midrange game. Their 3 main players are 6-3 Jeff Horner, 6-5 Adam Haluska, and 6-7 Greg Brunner

Horner (6-3) is one of the top PG's in the country. He is supposed to be a great shooter, but did not show that last night. Seems to always do the right thing. The matchup with Han should be interesting.

Adam Haluska (6-5) is their leading scorer at 14.6ppg. He move very well without the ball, and can drive to the hoop and hit the three. He is a lot like Chet Stachititus of St Joes, and for you old timers John Havlichek of the Celtics. He is a hustler. Bell and Haluska seem like a locial matchup, but I don't know how thta will work if we play the 4-guard offense.

Greg Brunner (6-7) and looks like he lost a lot of weight. Knows how to establish good position down low, and has a good inside game. We could have trouble with him.

Henderson (6-2) is another starter who gets a lot of minutes. Did not see him do that much, but he adds quickness and athleticism to theh team. I assume he will match-up with Todd.

They have a 6-11 center in Erek Hansen. Long and plays a solid game. Will probably be a lot like Hanke, except that he is not as much of a scorer. Plays only 19mpg and averages 7ppg. They have a 6-8 and 6-9 player that come in for Hansen, but they play mostly Brinner at PF one of the other 3 at center.

Iowa will be our toughest matchup so far. The score of the NC State game was 45-42, but I expect Iowa to open it up against us.
