In reply to: JoeStag 's message, "Re: ESPN - Providence's leading scorer Brewington quits team" on 08:09:20am 11/17/05 Thu,

The "experiment" is successful in one sense... they are getting St. Joe's, Providence and Georgetown to play in Bridgeport, CT. This NEVER would have happened at Alumni Hall.

The "experiment" is an utter failure if these marquee games do not put people in the seats. These games should introduce fans to the program and start to build a base.

I do think the new configuration will help a LOT. The students make these games a lot of fun. Moving them out of the corner will help.

I still think that if St. Joe's and Providence do not draw that this project may be doomed. They have had enough experience at the arena to draw a base. It simply is not there. If people do not come to see the majors, why would they come to see Rider or St Peter's.

I will also address one reply specifically. Providence drawing 7,000 for a season opener against a weak team is an entirely different comparison than Fairfield welcoming a major conference opponent. Fairfield should sell out these games. Period.
