Subject: NJHoops - Yannick Formbor-Nono - Update

NJHoops is reporting That 6-8 PF/C Yannick Formbor-Nono is interested in the Stags but so are others. Stags have been recruiting Formbor-Nono for a while, and were hoping that he would sign early with Fairfield. He is what we need as he is a 6-8 inside player with both offensive and defensive toughness. As a PF/C he looks to a player that can provide immediate impact and be a potential starter at either. Signining period starts Wednesday, but indications from the story is that he might not sign early, but this is a player that we should watch closely. Here are some details of the story from NJHoops who met up with him at the Eddie Griffin Challenge a week ago Sunday:

- NJHoops describes him as a Physical insider and strong rebounder

- The 6-8 St. Patrick's Sr. is one of the top available frontcourt prospects in the state of NJ

- Formbor-Nono listed Lasalle, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, Toledo and Fairfield as the schools in the mix.

- He has already taken visits to St. Bonaventure, Fairfield and Toledo. Formbour-Nono comments: "All the visits went well. I liked all the campuses. St. Bonaventure may be out and it may come down to either Toledo or Fairfield.

- NJHoops says that "All things being equal, Formbour-Nono would prefer to stay close to home for his college career"

- Formbor-Nono was an All Star at Eastern Invitational camp the past two summers.

- NJHoops says "there doesn't appear to be a decision in the very near future".

Formbor-Nono looks to have some pretty good "D" as he goes up against Brian Zoubek, the 7-1 270lb Duke recruit, who is ranked #17 in the country.

Let's hope Nono says YesYes to the Stags!!! He definitely looks like the big man enforcer we so desperately need. A front court with Nono, Mamadou, Jeremy and Nathan will certainly help solidify us defensively.

We are in need for a PF and a Center. Yannick would have a great opportunity to play right of way, and give us what we need..... inside presence, defense and rebounding. I don't think we have a current player that combines all those skills like he does. Plus he looks to be skilled offensively. He can probably play right of way at both positions/

It seems to me that Yannick has played for St Pats for a while, and has been on teams with some great players. And he has not really been the star player on those teams either. IMO, he would be better off becoming a Stag and taking advatage of teh opportunity to be a star for us.

He also has to be able to see how Big Guys like Deng Gai, Robbie Thomson, and Darren Phillip not only got a lot of College accolades and awards, but they are also playing Professionally.

I also think that Yannick is a good student, as I saw a post on NJO message board that implied that.

We are also a team that always has a lot of NJ players, so forming a common bond with these players is more likely. Plus he said he wanted to go to a shool close to home. And with the amount of games that we play within 1.5 hours from his home has got to be close to 20 of our 27 games

I am not making the choice, Yannick is. But I just feel that the Fairfield oppportuity is right for him....... but you never know.
