David Fumero is not my favorite actor, but he sure is pretty to look at. So I was glad to see him come back, even though I pretty much (correctly) expected him to spend a lot of time standing around looking hot. Dumb. But hot. The other thing I like about him is that he seems to have a calming effect on KDLR.
Antonio has been ruined completely for me, or I thought he had been. He's fickle. He's an asshole. He's mean to his mother. He's a terrible boyfriend. And, with Cris gone, i'd forgotten that there was one person in Llanview with whom Phonio had been consistently kind and nurturing. You'd think it would be his baby daughter, but it isn't. It's Cris.
And they were great together in their last scenes this week. The Santi story is full of what if's for me. What if it hadn't revolved entirely around Antonio and what an asshole he is? What if they'd found a decent actor to cast as El Toro and brought Dorian and David into the mix (Adriana could use something to do, too)? I wouldn't set up a love triangle with Dorian and Viki, but what if Viki, grieving for Ben and vulnerable, got involved with Manuel and Dorian had to save her ass? What if Tico hadn't been a bad joke? What if Natalie loved her husband more than some boring guy who only wants her when she's unavailable?
What if the story had been written in advance instead of on the fly?
This wasn't like some of the other stories on ABC right now, stories that started out bad, serve no purpose, and lack even comedic entertainment value. This could have been good. But it sucked. Right from the stupid race to the treasure start to the CrIS he or CrISN'T he finish.
And that's where it got me. All that shit with who is he, who's he supposed to kill did nothing for me. I mean, duh, of course he's supposed to kill Antonio, it's Antonio's show, right? And I figured he was Cris, but kind of hoped he wasn't, because Cris is now the MOST used and abused younger male character since AJ Quartermaine.
But those last scenes, especially with Carlotta, I was crying, CRYING! And not because the dialogue was so stupid. That was AMC that day. And all of a sudden, I was like, hey, wait a second, flash to reality (well, you know what I mean), who did this to you? Did you really kill Tico? Doesn't anyone care who tried to make you kill Antonio? And why isn't Antonio asking these questions? He used to be a cop, right?
But instead of going there, we're heading into more McPointless-E-Ho-GNat hell triangle, because the POINT of the story was to make Nat available in her mind, so she can go after John, but UNavailable in his mind, so he can go after her.
That's why only John knows the truth. And it's why he's not asking any questions.
