She was in great shape for a long time, able to walk, talk, etc., and it shut her down very quickly (went right for that part of the brain that keeps your heart pumping and your lungs moving). We felt very, very blessed that she was spared a long decline, but we miss her so much. All forms of autoimmune disorders (ALS, MS, lupus and other collagen diseases, etc.) seem to be on the rise.
