Seriously, Labine at GH is kind of like Malone at OLTL for me. I may not have liked EVERYTHING that happened on her watch. I may even think she made some horrendous mistakes (giving Robin HIV, making Frisco Jones an ASSSSSSHOLE - am I the only one who thinks if Felicia was going to be written out, Frisco should have made a cameo - even if GH needed a momentary recast - which they might not have, considering the Wagner's divorce is supposedly on hold for the moment?) but, really, all things considered, she and Matt wrote well for GH, and they're probably my favorites ove the last decade plus. We got to see everyone in town - interacting with each other - and the stories had heart and made sense.
Then again, ABCD really fucked over the Labines, so I don't know how well they'd do now, considering some of the more outlandish shit they did at OLTL was apparently payback for GH/GH2.
In any event, the crap that goes on at GH these days is beyond the pale.
WTF was that shit with Rick Webber and Laura Spencer? Rick Webber wasn't perfect, but the only woman he ever cheated with - and this is a fact JACK because I was fucking there - was Monica. Puh-leeze tell me that they did not bring back Rick Webber and trash him forever and insult this longterm Webber fan in the process solely for the purpose of doing the GH version of Todd in a dress to Genie Francis.
And Stefan better be whatsisname, last seen as Robert Kelker Kelly, um, Stavros, yeah, that's the ticket, Stavros posing as Stefan, because I'm not buying the sour owlshit routine from him, not for one minute.
And before I lose my thread, I just want to ask why people keep calling the mobcentricity Sopranos Lite? This show bears no resemblance to The Sopranos - which has well-written dialogue, complex family relationships, and a constant tension between family life and FAMILY life, such that one can actually care for Tony, sort of, while simultaneously being shocked and repelled by most of what he does. And Carmella wasn't dumbed down and de-balled for the part of Mrs. Tony, either. In fact, she's coming out of her Catholic coma more and more every episode.
The shit on GH is totally different. Sonny and Courtney are good. Ric is bad. Yes, Sonny slaps Faith around all the time, but she fucking deserves it. Carly is a fucking idiot who couldn't tie her own shoes without a man to help her. Jason is no Luca Brazzi. He's the Terminator from Terminator II, only with an uglier t-shirt. Jagger should come back to town and kick his ass once for old times' sake.
The drama is nonexistent. There is no suspense. And, I'm sorry, but Sonny and Jason are jackasses who inspire in me nothing more than vague bemusement, except for those rare occasions when they rise to the level of actual ridiculousness. That's what I'm watching for these days.
