And if Marcella is Leelee, she seems to have stopped that incessant fucking whining and bitching. ANYTHING that breaks up Sonny and Carly is okay by me. Sarah Brown gave Carly a lot more spine than Tamara Braun gives her. And I think that makes a huge difference in how much life Carly gets sucked out of her in Sonny's presence. Sonny treats Carly like a learning-disabled child. TB's Carly gazes back adoringly and eats another mile of his shit. SB's Carly always gave him this look like you're being an asshole, but I choose to be with you anyway.
Lorenzo is Carly's friend, whether she's ready to hear that or not. He's the one who can tell her what some of us in the audience have seen since Sonny agreed to take Carly back (snort) - that Sonny does not treat her with respect, that Sonny endangers her and Michael, that she is not Sonny's equal partner, that Sonny is NOT the hero she thinks he is. And Ted King is a strong enough actor to elicit from Tamara something more than the one-level straight-ahead shtick she does day in and day out. Suddenly, her Carly is capable of feeling two things at once: rejection of what Lorenzo is saying, and a deeper recognition that he is telling her the truth. To me, that's a big improvement.
As for whether I can see Ted King with Lily Melgar? Lorenzo w/ Leelee? I think he'd be fine with just about any grown woman on the show, and I'd rather see him with her than with Emi-NEED or Dipshit Courtney. But if I were writing the show, I'd have Leelee be Leelee and VERY pissed off about that whole getting blowed up thing, especially since it was all about Brenda. In my story, she would have been in the witness protection program for all these years (with or without little Sonny, Jr.). I'd have her back to string Sonny up by those itty bitty testicles of his, take back her father's organization, and I'd have her hook up with AJ, Ric, or Scott. If she turns out to be as boring as last time, I'd have her fall back in love with Sonny and blackmail him (again) into leaving with her.
