No, DON'T put her with Kevin. I actually LIKE Kevin... when he's not with her. I actually LIKE watching HT's Kelly. I LOVE watching TSJ's Todd, especially with Starr and Jack. ALL of these character shine WITHOUT this hellish version of TROLL Blair around.
ITA with Candy that she's a sleazy, no-brainer, middle-aged troll with a DEATH WISH. Well, GRANT it. This Blair is better off DEAD, because she is no longer WATCHABLE. She is completely UNVIABLE. This revenge crap where she will torture her children so she can fuck over their father with the man he hates and who hates him the most. A man who is married to her own cousin makes her no longer ANY kind of character any viewer with a brain or a heart can RELATE to. BlairHead DelSnotto NEEDS TO DIE. Hell, at THIS point Gabrielle Medina is more viable than SHE is.
There is NO way, NO how that ANYONE can tell me that writing Blair this way benefits ANYONE but the Bean Counters at Disney who look at KDP and say high-paid Vet over Forty NEEDS TO GO. And I guess, KDP was a reasonably popular actress with a High Q rating, so the best way to fire her without a bunch of people getting pissed is to write her character so it will be a fucking RELIEF to see her go. That's pretty much what was done with her hubby, JAMES when they took his character on that slow painful journey from Max, the Rogue with a Heart to MaxHole that Sleazy Jerk. Well, they hae taken the Bitch With a Heart and morphed her into a Brainless Troll.
How does BlairHead DelSnotto move storyline? Could Kevin and Kelly have worked and impacted OTHER storyline without her? Easily. If TMFIIC wanted a Romantic Quadrangle that would have an umbrella impact on the show, the LOGICAL direction to take Kevin and Kelly would have been Joey and Jennifer. ALL the ingredients were there: Kelly's guilt and regret for leaving a loving husband like Joey for the selfish pig, Kevin, but being too ambitious to let go of him. Jennifer being bored as the rector's wife, being drawn to Kevin's "charisma" even as Rex takes her into the sleazier aspects of clubbing. Played against the backdrop of the Music Box Killer with McBain as the investigator. Think of Rex as Marco Dane, Joey as Larry Wolek, Kevin as Talbot Huddleston, Jennifer as Kevin's BIMBO ERUPTION - Karen Wolek. Throw in Kelly and the Music Box Killer as the twists and you draw John McBain OUT of Natalie and JAVA's shallow orbit onto a frontburner storyline.
Had there NOT been such an almighty rush to make WALKER LAWRENCE NuTodd Manning in order to thumb their collective noses at Roger the Dodger, TMFIIC could have written a long term arc with Blair getting serious about Troy who rebounds to her after his fling with Lindsey costs him Nora. Blair wants to marry him because he gets along with his kids, he's safe, no unpleasant surprises, but she also has to help Dorian with Mitch and the aftermath, like getting Mitch's estate and Walker is the obstacle to that. Walker who is attracted to her and pursuing her, as a romantic obstacle/spoiler to Troy. Walker who has some sinister secret of his own. Alyssa could have been just as easily hired by either a) Troy who likes the idea of being a family man or b) Dorian who would like to get him in enough trouble to get Mitch's money. When Alyssa ends up strangled by the MBK, Walker could have ended up a prime suspect in the Music Box Killings.
Moreover, if they had written Walker Lawrence as yet ANOTHER of Victor Lord's bastards, it sure has hell would have explained Mitch's obsession with the Lords AND they could have STILL done the Heart of the Lord storyline with Kevin and "Walker" vying over Viki's legacy. Moreover, they could have STILL done Blair vs. Kelly and Walker vs. Kevin simply by having K&K team up to take over THE SUN so they had some kind of MEDIA to control as a PR front for them. Kelly has ALWAYS historically coveted THE SUN especially when Blair had control of it. KEVIN also coveting what Todd owned ISN'T a stretch for Kevin.
Rather than this stupid farce about Keri Reynolds committing suicide because she couldn't have PhoniHo, because he loved Jessica, they could have made KERI the MBK's first victim, but they aren't aware of that, BECAUSE during the struggle, the red leotard was among Keri's other clothes scattered all over the floor. No one in Llanview was aware there were Music Box Killings going on in NJ at the time, a grief-stricken RJ pocketed the Music Box, thinking it was Keri's and put all her things up in storage once it was released by the police. Moreover the police and the D.A. had already brought Keri's "killer," PhoniHo to justice. Thus, leaving RJ with custody of Jaime, facing Carlotta in court, who is battling for visitation. They could have broken up JAVA by having an incarcerated PhoniHo dump Jessica rather than having her tried to a convicted felon facing a life sentence in prison. They could have spared us this stupid Pool Storyline by having GNat and Cristian trying to prove that he is innocent. They could have even written Cris out as one of the MBK's victims when he possibly finds the clue that would exonerate PhoniHo by finding the real killer.
Moreover, they could have continued the K&K vs. W=T/B rivalry by having BOTH newspapers compete to uncover the MBK's real identity. BOTH Troy AND Walker could be prime suspects...since, as you can see...nearly ALL the killings seem to be playing Seven Degrees from Nora Buchanan. Lindsey could still be dating Daniel Coulson, the supervising DA and still be drawn to Troy. Nora's growing closeness to Bo could break up Bo and Gabrielle who could then start dating Dr. Stephen Haver (Matt Ashford) the Professor who is also a psychologist. Jessica could start interacting more with Ron Walsh, Marcie's brother who is ANOTHER possible MBK suspect. Paul Cramer could be interacting more with GNatalie once Cristian bought the big one, trying to keep his mitts on Aunt Betsey's inheritance, but still having several secrets of his own. ANOTHER possible MBK suspect. With David and Dorian hot on his heels trying to find a way to discredit him to the old gal WHILE Dorian and Viki find some new sphere of influence to fight over.
You see, Blair ISN'T even a walking SPD to effect some kind of Umbrella storyline. The Music Box Killer is or SHOULD be, but even THAT isn't being used to full effect, because MOST of these storylines are off into their own little compartments. Sorry, but I have to call a spade a SPADE. BlairHead DelSnotto is NOT an umbrella storyline in the making. She's is or SHOULD be the total destruction of ANY hope for a viable T&B and she DEFINITELY is the beginning of the end for Blair Daimler Manning. 'Nuff said.
