She was a little surprised that he didn't invite her in - she wasn't crazy about airing her dirty laundry in the hallway of their apartment with all the looky-loos - though they had certainly provided enough entertainment for them when the three of them had lived here, but it's obvious he wouldn't allow her the luxury of privacy. "You broke me, that's why I left. I can't handle this, I don't want to be a mother, I can't play house with you knowing that that child belongs to another woman that you could go back to anytime.
