Canada wins the gold medal with a 5-2 victory over the U.S.

The score does not really do the American squad justice as the game was quite evenly played and will go down as the most exciting games in the history of the sport.

Canada looked in the early going that they were just toying with the opposition but the Americans really held tough and put on a good show.

Way to go Canada, and also a great job to the American players and fans for a great Olympics and a great showing of sportsmanship after a heartbreaking loss.

Look at it on the bright side... if the Leafs follow Team Canada's example... only 15 more years to go.

BTW - If I was Cujo... I'd rub that gold medal in Sundin's face!

You are sadly mistaken....it is not the numbero f years Team Canada waited to win, but the year that they won that is significant.
Pat Quinn is the coach of Team Canada and will carry over this championship feeling to the Toronto dressing room and win the Stanley Cup this year.

Your comment regarding CuJo rubbing that gold medal in Mats Sundin's face? There is no need for him to gloat. Sundin let all players in tournament scoring and also made Cujo and all of Team Canada look silly in the opening game of the tournament. He is a great leader that in my mind should have won the gold medal, but that game against Belerus was just a stepping stone on the road to fate for our Canadian boys.
The man that really needs to have a gold medal shoved in his face is that goaltender on the Colorado Avalanche. Joe Sakic, Adam Foote and Rob Blake all have the opportunity to show him what he could have been wearing if he had an ounce of patriotism in his blood.

Thanks a bundle Patrick Roy by making this gold medal victory even sweeter by NOT being part of it. I'm sure my friend from Brockville will echo this sentiment.

You're right. Sundin doesn't deserve that from CuJo. Besides, all he would have to do show CuJo the replay of that first goal.

And as for Patty-Cakes??? I could not agree with you more. His only patriotism is for himself. Anyway, Brodeur showed he is one of the best.

Now, Hooter... care to make a wager on the Leafs winning the Cup? I don't think they will and do no mean to suggest that the Habs will win this year either. I haven't made my pick for this year's Cup yet. Too close to call.
