Subject: Oedipus and the bull

Another passage that caught my attention in Oedipus Rex, was a piece said by the Chorus in the first ode. In it they speak about the community working to seek out the murderer of Laios and say this:
"That all shall hunt hom down: / Though he may roam the forest shade / Like a bull gone wild from pasture / To rage though glooms of stone" (p. 26).
I think it is very interesting that the chorus chooses to make a comparison between the murderer and this particular sacrificial animal. It reminded me of the Bacchae's sacrificial process. I also thought it was interesting that the Chorus, whose view is usually biased or corrupted, recognizes the sacrificial attitude that will be taken towards Laios's murderer.
