Subject: Mimetic Creation?

Reading through the beginning of Genesis I found something interesting: it was is if the creation story has mimetic elements in it. God always says "let there be..." "go...." etc. Although many things he actually creates and puts in place, I thought it was weird that it sounds like something is there, he says "let this happen" or "go do this" and then everything follows his example (or model). It is most relevant when he creates man in his own image, rather than something totally distinct from himself. It just seems that perhaps in creation God is the first model and although he creates everything, they ultimately are set into motion through the imitation of the first and perfect model: God.
