Subject: Crime and Punishment

When thinking of an unconcious imitation, Raskolnikov comes to mind. When the story opens, Raskolnikov has published an article in which he explains the mentality of a criminal--the way in which he conscience slowly debilitates him and destorys him until he becomes physically sick, etc. Throughout the story, Raskolnikow uses this criminal mind of his article as his model. He thinks that he is an exceptional man and will not succumb after killing two old women with an axe. Nonetheless, he finds that he cannot overcome this model. He is trapped imitating his article. Porfiry uses Raskolnikov's description of his own model to track down Raskolnikov.
