The quote you mentioned interested me too. Political Correctness is highly influential now-a-days, and it's hard not to fall into using "PC" terms. It's interesting to see how many people talk against being politically correct; yet there is a constant fear of upsetting someone without falling into the trap of political correctness. I think you could say being "PC" is a form of mimesis. We see others use certain terminology to reference a group, etc. and when it comes time to reference the same thing ourselves we probably say what we heard. As far as I can tell not many people are not “PC”, and those who are non-“PC” are seen somewhat as “outsiders”. I think being “PC” has caused more fear in people than anything. After all, when someone is seen as not being very "PC" they are usually attacked and are considered inconsiderate or disrespectful. We might even agree with what they said but we usually aren’t willing to become the victim ourselves. People who are not "PC" seem to have become the minority; although it also seems being “PC” is not that popular. “Political Correctness” appears to carry a negative connotation yet society cannot stop succumbing to it.
