Correct me if I'm wrong (I havent read Medea in a little over a year), but doesnt the chorus play the voice of moderation in Medea? Not the kind of moderation we see proposed by Cadmus in Bacchae, but an actual moderate view point. In the beginning I remember their support of Medea, but do they not bemoan the actions taken by Medea against her children and other innocents (Jason's new wife, etc)? It seems hard to have a systematic reading of ALL choruses (choroi? ha!), even when dealing with the same offer. The chorus in Medea DOES seem to be less prone to violence and more supportive of a middle ground in which the faults of everyone are called for what they are.
