Subject: Essence of God

What is Girard's idea of the nature or essence of God? A paragraph in I See Satan Fall brought this question to mind:
Why does Jesus regard the Father and himself as the best model for all humans? Because neither the Father nor the Son desire greedily, egotistically. God "makes the sun rise on the evil and on the good to us without counting, without marking the least difference between us. He lets the weeds grow with the wheat until the time of harvest. IF we imitate the detatched generosity of God, then the trap of mimetic rivalries will never close over us."

So, is the Trinity defined by the same characteristic Gireard claims defines man-desire? I think clarity on his vision of God might aid in understanding his Biblical readings.
