Subject: Refrains in the Gospel of Luke

There are two phrases that are repeated a couple times in the Gospel of Luke: 1) "For whoeve would save his live will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it" and 2) variations of "what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God". I dont know if I'm simply reading something that everyone has already seen in the phrase, but through this reading of the first phrase I see meaning in terms of Girard's theory, as to save one's own life would be to continue to participate in the mimetic cycle of violence while to "lose one's life" would be to fall victim to that cycle as Christ has and save one's life through not participating and revealing that mechanism. The second phrase seemed to just be an extension of this idea in that the exaltations of the earth are the "sacred" or the violence that God does not take any part in and that which he wished to expel from humanity.
