There seems to be a pattern among those who add works requirements to the gospel of using the works requirement to control members. When members are told that they must earn their salvation, they need someone to tell them the work they must perform.
The Local Church, however, is not structured in the fashion of UBF. The leaders do not control the members in the same style. Likewise, they do not demand members to work for them.
Effectively, the Local Church is a "sales cult" (look it up on cultinfo), they want you to buy product and that's it. How you live your life is no matter.
Their product, however, is the publications of the Living Stream Ministry, 95% of which are authored by "brother Lee".
This brother was "God's Oracle in this generation", "THE Apostle of this age" etc. So, if you wanna be a good Christian, you better know all that God wants to tell you, and you have only ONE chance to do that: read what the Oracle wrote, and that of course means: buy all LSM publications.
But since "The Oracle" wrote nearly 50,000 pages worth of messages and "life Studies", you'll never manage to read all of it.
Hey, nothing is lost yet:
you can attend Video Trainings and conferences (cost: room+board at your own choice + $100 "donation" for 3 days) to get at least some knowledge of God's Will for your life.
But after you got this, be wary: God doesn't stand still. He's moving in this generation!
So you need to keep in "God's up-to-date speaking", and your only chance to do that is to attend further Trainings and conferences (see above).
The average Local Church member leaves around $500 in donations per family member annually in the LSM coffers - claiming they have more than 200,000 members world wide you do the math. LSM holds property assets totalling near $200,000,000 and it ain't from nowhere.
LSM is a non profit organization, but the directors (brother Lee's son, of course, also being one) live in nice houses in Anaheim, CA, all travel expenses paid (which means: hosting conferences all over the world, i.e. seeing the world) etc.
Suffice it for now.
LSM doesn't want your labour. They only want your wallet.
And they've got a group of people to support it, called the "Local Church".
I still don't doubt that the average LC member is a devout, sincere Christians but they usually will tie their faith to the ramblings of an individual who claimed to be something that he truly wasn't (Lee, The Apostle of this Age).
It seems a task of impossibility to educate these people that they can throw LSM and their publications out of the window without going to hell.
And why is that? Because they have been taught that they must cram all their life to know the intricate details of God's will or they'll go to the "outer Darkness Summer School" (like hinted in the initial posting)
