It is interesting that we don't have such a tradition in Germany. We have only Mother's day which I think is a good tradition.

But we don't have something like Valentine's or Sweetest day.

Or rather, we did not have it. Since in the last years, the traditions of Valentine and Halloween gets popular in Germany. I think everything that is popular in the US, whether it is good or bad, is imitated by all the world sooner or later. It's kind of a leading culture in the world. In the case of Halloween, it really bothers me. Ten years ago, most people would not have known about Haloween, but now, nearly every house is decorated with pumpkins, the theme is prevalent in the magazines (I would agree with you that all of this is driven by commerce), with all of its scary and horror aspects.
